Roles down to the permission
A cashier sees the counter. The office sees purchases and reports. What each role may do is a list of permissions, not a rank.

Backups that have been restored
Automated database backups run as a scheduled task, with health checks and log rotation beside them. A backup nobody has restored is not a backup, so the restore is tested at handover.
